For a moment, she almost consider saying something. But it’s almost selfish of her to mention it. Today may be her birthday, but it seemed like everyone was busy at the moment. It won’t do for her to interrupt them.

But a small smile, slight but noticeable enough on her normally stoic, controlled mask, appear on her face. At least people was doing fine, as far as I see.

It’s the least she can hope for, as long no one get hurt.

And really, Amane never know what to ask for on her birthday. So she focused on the simple yet broad things. While coincidentally never really gain personal benefits for herself.

Being selfish was something she’s still learning.

CHARACTERS: Amane Kuzuryu
SUMMARY/PROMPT: “Currently Mother’s Day in Japan is a rather commercial holiday, and people typically give their mothers gifts of flowers such as red carnations and roses.”

Second Sunday of May.

Mother’s Day.

Donning her most casual and inconspicuous clothes, Amane left stepped out of the Kuzuryu residence and started walking. In her hand was a small bouquet of red carnation flowers, carefully plucked and trimmed from the garden.

Fortunately, the information about where the Shomonkai maiden live wasn’t public knowledge (yet), so her walk towards the bus stop was mostly uneventful.

She don’t want today of all days to be disturbed. Even though her memories of her own mother was rather faint.

Amane’s mother did pass away when she was just a young girl. But it didn’t mean she can ignore today. Her mother might be gone, but she can still see some signs of her influence around the house. Before her father almost overwhelmed it with his zealous desire to help humanity.

The bus ride was just as uneventful, and she watched the urban scenery through the window. Until she pressed the stop button before her stop.

Her stop?

The nearest cemetery.

The cemetery was something she tend to visit a lot. To pay respect for her parents, to remember the Shomonkai followers who died in the lockdown and sometimes, she suspected a number of graves belonged to civilians who died in the very same lockdown.

After getting off the bus, she quietly walked toward a certain grave, picking up a watering can as she go. Keeping herself to the path, avoiding to step on anyone’s graves (having actual land in Tokyo was always an issue, so some cemeteries may be small and even cramped).

“…Hello, Mother.”

Her footsteps slowed down to a stop, as Amane crouched down and place the red carnations into the small, stone vase. Then with careful hands, she fill up the vase with water from the watering can.

“I’m here again…without Father again, I’m sorry.”

The apology slipped out before she can think. Amane knew it’s her father’s decision to stand by his choice. That her mother might understand, based on what she remembered being told about her from her father.

“…Happy Mother’s Day.”

If her mother was still alive, would things turn out different? Or would it stay the same?

“I hope Father is with you.”

After Belberith devoured him, the most Amane can pray for was that he’s reunited with her mother, his wife.

“…and I will do my best before I can join you. I hope you will be proud, Mother.”

Such a morbid thing to say, but she’s being honest…and nervous.

Her first Mother’s Day without her Father went by quietly.

► THE ANGEL

You called, you prayed, whatever you did, the holy messenger of God, the angel of hope, heeded your call.

By the time you realised it, you can sensed his otherworldly and holy presence.

“I am Remiel, an angel of the Lord. What do you seek?”

► THE DEMON

It’s undeniably dark and dangerous.

You shuddered, a contrast to the warmth you feel from your surroundings, as you walked further and further. Until you found a powerful demon before you…and listened to her chuckling.

“Such a bold visitor. Very well, I may humour you and allow you to speak before me. What brings you before me, Jezebel, Queen of Israel?”

You are now before them.

ANYWAY SINCE I BLUNDERED.

I’m in the middle of canon reviewing Overclocked. For those who’s unfamiliar with the term, it means re-experiencing the canon again in order to re-familiarise myself with canon events, details and most importantly, how a character acts/speaks.

I’ve been doing this for Amane and taking notes. Since I’m Australian, the 8th Days will be new to me, even if I spoiled myself on some details. This is so I can accurately portray Amane to the best of my ability and minimise any mistakes I may make (I already spotted a minor mistake from this review whoops).

Right now, fic prompts are still open, and I may consider an askblog thing for Amane, Remiel and Jezebel (again? Not a lot of people send in questions…). No idea about actual RP, since I have other things occupying my attention.

Otherwise, Amane-mun out.

[Founder leaves]

AMANE: Father… Isn’t our mission to save people? It isn’t simply to survive this ordeal… We can save this world without making so many suffer… So why…?

At this point, Amane finally heard Remiel’s voice. The warning’s most likely from the Founder’s own theological research. Will transcribe that for reference later.

(As an Amane RPer, I kiiiinda forgot when Amane heard the angels’ words so yeah)
